Christmas is coming upon us, so are the debts!

For many people Christmas can be a time of joy and happiness, as it should be. For others it is a time of stress and unhappiness, this is not how it is supposed to be. Most people that get stressed do so because of financial problems. We see so many people, some of which are our close friends and family members that over spend each year, that it is not even funny. Are you looking for debt help?

When the Holidays come around and you want to avoid getting deeper in debt, it is a must that you be realistic in your spending. If you do not have the money on hand try to avoid using a credit card, especially if you know that you may have a hard time paying it back. If you have worked hard to put money in savings, try not to spend it all up, there could be a rainy day ahead.

Do not spend money you do not have! We know of a couple that had always gotten a very nice Christmas bonus for years and years. They had counted on the bonus as part of there Christmas spending. But, several years ago the couple went out and did their Christmas shopping early, getting very nice gifts for their children, as well as each other. When they received the Christmas bonus that they always get, they were shocked to find out that the bonus had been cut in half. Needless to say, they spent a whole day returning some of the gifts they had purchased.

Gift Alternatives: There are other ways that people can give gifts that will not put them in a financial bind.

1. Gift cards or gift certificates: Believe it or not, gift cards can be an inexpensive gift. Decide how much you can spend and figure a budget for these cards. Even a $5 gift card to a local hamburger stand can be a very nice gesture.

2. Arts and Crafts and Homemade Goodies: If you are good at making craft items or good at making cookies, bread, pies or cakes. This could be another good gift idea. How about that homemade hot chocolate mix, mmmmmmmmmm this is my favorite!

3. The Local Dollar Store: These stores usually have good items and at affordable prices. You can find toys, clothing and just about anything else you can think of. Another great gift that you can find here is the scented candles, just about everyone loves the candles.
